為什麼要花錢讓孩子學足球呢？

這是我今天在Facebook上看到的，一位名叫Victoria的普通外國媽媽，給她的兒子所在的足球俱樂部寫的一封郵件。
外國的媽媽如此，我們的媽媽呢？這文章值得我們省思，我在尖山國小免費讓孩子學習足球，但家長和師長擔心孩子會受傷、會晒黑、功課會退步......
無論你的孩子是否在學習踢足球，或者是在學繪畫、舞蹈、樂器等等，都值得去看一下這篇文章，並且問一下我們自己，我們是為了什麼？

我的一個朋友曾經問我
Why did you pay so much money for your kids to play football?
你為什麼在孩子踢球上面花這麼多錢呢？
Well, I have a confession to make, I don't pay for my kids' football. Personally, I couldn't care less about football.
今天，我要跟你們坦白一下，其實我為孩子的足球訓練所花的錢，並不是為了足球。我自己一點兒也不在乎我的孩子足球踢得怎麼樣。
So,if I am not paying for football, what am I paying for?
這麼說來，如果我花這份錢並不是為了孩子足球踢得多好，那麼我是為了什麼呢？
I pay for those moments when my kids become so tired they want to quit but don't.
我是為了那些當我的孩子累得想要退出，卻最終堅持下來的時刻。
I pay for those days when my kids come home from school and are "too tired" to go their practice but go anyway.
我是為了那些當我的孩子放學回到家，喊著「太累了」而不能去訓練，卻仍然堅持去球場的日子。
I pay for my kids to learn to be disciplined.
我是為了讓我的孩子學會遵守紀律和規則。
I pay for my kids to learn to take care of their body.

我是為了讓我的孩子學會愛護自己的身體。

 I pay for my kids to learn to work with others and to be good team mates.

 我是為了讓我的孩子學習如何與他人合作，並成為一個好的隊友。

I pay for my kids to learn to deal with disappointment, when they go to games but don't get that score they'd hoped for, but still have to work hard in the preparation and competition.

我是為了讓我的孩子學習如何面對失望和挫折，當他們去踢比賽，在賽場上沒有踢進他們希望的進球時，卻依然要精神昂揚的更加努力的去跑動及拼搶。

I pay for my kids to learn to make and accomplish goals.

我是為了讓我的孩子學會設定目標並完成目標。

 I pay for my kids to learn that it takes hours and hours and hours and hours of hard work and practice to create a champion, and that success does not happen overnight.

我是為了讓我的孩子明白任何冠軍的背後都是日復一日、日復一日的非常努力的訓練，沒有人可以在一夜之間成功。

 I pay for the opportunity my kids have and will have to make life-long friendships.

我是為了讓我的孩子有機會在現在以及他長大以後，認識一些可以陪他一生的好朋友。

I pay so that my kids can be in the fresh air instead of in front of a screen...

我是為了讓我的孩子能夠在戶外新鮮的空氣里奔跑，而不是盯著電子螢幕……

I could go on but, to be short

我還能繼續往下說出好多來，不過簡單來講：

I don't pay for football, I pay for the opportunities that the football provide my kids with to develop attributes that will serve them well throughout their lives  and give them the opportunity to bless the lives of others.

我花這份錢並不是為了讓孩子把球踢得多好，而是為了通過踢足球，幫他們養成一些將受益一生的優秀品質，並且讓他們學會去真誠欣賞他人的生活。

From what I have seen so far I think it is a great investment!

目前看來，我覺得這份投資真是太值了！
